Fortnite mechs doing everyone a favor by blowing themselves up
The Fortnite mech that almost every player loves to loathe is doing us all a favor by blowing itself up.
The B.R.U.T.E. has begun self-destructing as soon as it hits the ground in Battle Royale matches. And fortunately for fans of the game, it doesn’t appear to be an unintentional bug.
The B.R.U.T.E., a rideable robot that fires overpowered rockets, was introduced to Fortnite with the launch of season 10. It remains in the game today, despite the fact everyone hates it.
Epic Games has made a number of tweaks to the mech to address many of our complaints. But it is unanimously agreed that Battle Royale would be better if the robot was removed altogether.
And it looks like that will happen very soon.
Fortnite mechs take care of themselves
Players have noticed that the B.R.U.T.E. has begun automatically self-destructing following the release of Fortnite’s version 10.40 patch on Wednesday.
The robots spawn into Battle Royale matches as usual, but then disappear the moment they hit the ground. It seems to be a bug at first, but that may not be the case.

Many players suspect the kamikaze mechs are a part of Fortnite’s ongoing storyline. Their self-destruction could be in preparation for big events that will take place at the end of this season.
Will the Fortnite mech disappear for good?
It is highly unlikely the B.R.U.T.E. will be sticking around for season 11. Epic would be mad to bring them back after the controversy they have caused since their introduction.
It makes sense for an in-game event to wipe out mechs before season 10 comes to an end in nine days, then.
We’ll find out more about what to expect this weekend, when mission logs for the Visitor — a big character in this Fortnite story line — become in-game collectables.
Until then, you can enjoy a wonderfully mech-free Battle Royale experience.
