Motorola

Motorola’s patent trove weakens.

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has officially ruled in favor of Apple against Google’s Motorola Mobility in a patent case that began in 2010. The last patent Motorola was using to sue Apple for infringement has been ruled invalid by the ITC.

Motorola sued Apple for allegedly violating six of its patents three years ago, and today’s patent was the last of six patents to be thrown out of court. If Motorola would have proven Apple’s infringement of this particular patent, the ITC could have possibly blocked sales of certain iPhone models.

Google Glass is that futuristic, weird, strangely beautiful technology that is very real but not within grasp yet. It has been demoed and even spotted in public, but only the privileged few have access to Glass right now. Google’s Glass “Explorers” (mostly celebrities and influential members of the press who got invited to use the hardware early) are starting to get Glass prototypes. You know what that means: unboxing pics and videos!

Galaxy-S4-side

AT&T opened preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S4 this morning. The 16GB model costs $200 with a two-year carrier contract, or off-contract for $639. The S4 is currently available in two colors: “Black Mist” and “White Frost.”

According to AT&T’s website, preorders will ship Tuesday, April 30th and arrive on Friday, May 3rd. Some users were reporting issues with AT&T processing orders earlier this morning, but hopefully the issues have been fixed since then. A 32GB model isn’t available for preorder yet, but don’t be surprised to see it appear soon.

US Cellular, a smaller U.S. carrier, also started accepting S4 preorders today.
