Motorola Mobility sued Apple in a Florida court on Wednesday for violating 6 wireless technology patents found in the iPhone 4S and iCloud. The patents in question relate to antenna, software, data filtering, and messaging technology.

Google recently acquired Motorola for $12.5 billion and is in the process of merging with the company. While Google is not directly involved with this specific case, Motorola’s lawsuit can definitely be seen as another attempt to protect patent ammunition for the ongoing legal war between the top smartphone manufacturers. In fact, this is the closest Apple and Google have ever come to fighting in the courtroom.

Andy Rubin, SVP of Mobile at Google, recently announced that Android now sees 700,000 activations per day. The last time he gave such an update was in June of 2011, when Android was seeing 500,000 activations per day.

According to a report from App Data, Facebook for Android garners more daily users than Facebook for iPhone.  Android’s very own Facebook app boasts 58.8 million daily active users while Facebook for iPhone attracts 57.6 million.

Based on App Data’s projections, the Android adoption of Facebook’s app is accelerating faster than iPhone user adoption.

Google recently unveiled its first retail store in London called the “Chromezone.” This “store within a store” resides in PC World on Tottenham Court Road.

This 30 square foot ‘pop-up’ store is meant to promote Google’s relatively new Chromebook, a cheap, web-based netbook that runs the Google Chrome OS.

We’ve got an internal document from this Chromezone store in London that details how many Chromebooks Google has been selling in-store.

Taking the cue from Apple and Microsoft, Google has decided to jump into the retail game by opening its first store in London. Google’s “Chromezone” store resides within Tottenham Court Road’s PC World.

Google’s 285 square foot store is seen as a “low-key experiment” that could prove to be the start of something much bigger for Google in the retail space. The Chromezone mainly serves to sell Google’s Chromebook laptop.
