If recent leaks and rumors are anything to go by, it certainly looks like LG has joined forces with Verizon Wireless in order to develop and launch a brand new, affordable, super-sized smartphone — entitled the LG G Vista. The handset is expected to be announced tomorrow, July 31, and should retail for $499 off-contract, or $99 on any of Big Red’s 2-year tariffs.

Samsung has applied for a trademark on the name “Gear S” for what could be the recently-rumored Gear Solo, which is presumed to be a standalone, Tizen-powered variant of the Gear 2 with compatibility for a SIM card, SMS and cellular connectivity (4G LTE).

Back in May, LG announced five new colorways for its flagship smartphone, the G3 –Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet, and Burgundy Red. Two months on and both the violet and red options are still not available in the United States. Thankfully, LG has today spoken out and provided us with an update on the subject.

This month a handful of leaked images appeared online reputedly showcasing an upcoming Huawei-branded smartphone. Initially, the device in the pictures went unidentified, but members of the Android community quickly dubbed it as the D3 — a phablet pretty similar aesthetically to HTC’s failed 5.9-inch device, the One Max.

We now have some more information on the handset in question. Earlier this evening a report was published on a Chinese news website, revealing that the previously snapped smartphone is, in fact, the much-anticipated Ascend Mate 3 — a result of an unannounced merger between Huawei’s Mate and D-series range of products.

So, consequently, we’ve decided to bring the application its very own review here on Cult of Android.
