Krispy Kreme’s Hot Light app let’s you know when a fresh batch of hot glazed doughnuts has come off the line and is ready to put you into a diabetic coma. The warm gooey freshness of a hot Krispy Kreme doughnut will have you quoting Homer Simpson and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Those of you who know what I’m talking about should check their blood sugar levels at this time. You never know when you may have a craving for one of these confectionery marvels, but with the Hot Light app, at least you’ll know when they’re hot should you want one. Papa John’s recently released an Android app that allows users to order from their entire menu via a supporting mobile device. To celebrate their launch onto Android, Papa John’s is now offering a special deal to anyone using the app, and if that wasn’t enough, they are also holding a Galaxy Nexus giveaway over on their Facebook page.


If you’ve ever wished you could use Apple’s Airplay functionality with your Google TV, then today is your lucky day. Developer Yossie has managed to piece together a semi-functional app called Airtight. Airtight works much like Airplay (minus the actual “works” part) by allowing you to stream videos and pictures from your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch directly to your TV. The app seems to still be in beta and doesn’t support many features such as:


Gameloft will be kicking off their New Year’s game promotion December 29, and will be offering all of their games from the Android Market for $0.99. Gameloft is well known for their console quality games and currently has 32 games in the Android Market. The promotion will run for one week and features hit titles such as Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD, 9mm HD, NFL Pro 2012, and more. Most will remain $0.99 throughout the promotional period with the exception of Modern Combat 3, which will be discounted for one day only.


Christmas day has historically been a record shattering day in terms of new device activations and app downloads. This Christmas was no different according to these recent stats published by Flurry Analytics. Using a baseline average taken from the first 20 days of December, Flurry showed that new Android and iOS device activations rose 353% on Christmas day. While averaging around 1.5 million activations during the month of December, activations jumped to more than 6.8 million on Christmas day. Ho, ho, ho — ly rising reindeer! That’s a staggering increase and to get a better feel for just how impressive those numbers are, only 2.8 million devices were activated last Christmas day.
