Yesterday Google threw us a curve ball when they suddenly killed off our beloved Android Market (I still think they should be tried for murder) in favor of their new Google Play marketing scheme. Whether or not you’re a fan of the new name and logo (which I’m not), one thing I’m sure you’re a fan of — deals! Google kicked off the rebranding with some sweet deals in their 7 Days To Play promotion. For seven days various media will be discounted to the insane price of $.25. Today is day two, which means you have 6 days left to play and we have today’s list of great deals for you after the break.

Having a device that’s “Playstation Certified” hasn’t meant much thanks to a dismal Playstation Suite. Promises of premium exclusive content has fallen short due to the lack of development. In an attempt to gain increased developer interest, Sony has announced it will be releasing an open beta version of the Playstation Suite SDK next month with an official version to follow later in the year. While the open beta will be free to all, the offical release will cost $99 annually and will allow developers to distribute their content through the PlayStation Store. Sony has to do something to entice consumers to purchase a “Playstation Certified” device and while having the branding alone is a nice incentive, without content, it’s nothing more than a marketing ploy.

If 15 days is too long for you to wait for the new Angry Birds Space to arrive, you can get your fix now by heading to the Android Market Google Play Store (meh) and downloading the latest Angry Birds Seasons update. In this latest update, your favorite angry aviators head to Japan for the Cherry Blossom celebration and are met by green headband touting pigs. Enjoy 15 new levels as well as two intriguing bonus levels, all set to the beautiful scenery in the shadow of Mt. Fuji.

To kick off the new Google Play media hub, Google is hosting a slew of deals in their “7 days to play” promotion. For the next week, Google will be discounting various digital content from apps to music and some of the deals are incredible. You’ll find entire music albums or top selling apps for a mere $.25. We’ve scoured through the Play Store and compiled a list to get you on your way. Hit the links after the break to check out some of the great deals going on right now in the Google Play Store.

Google completely caught us off guard today when they announced the rebranding of the Android Market and the consolidation of all their digital media into the new Android Play media hub. Apparently Google has decided it’s better to have a single Google Play branding versus the multitude of names including Android Market, Google Music, Google Books, etc. Everything will now fall under the Google Play umbrella and other than the name change, everything looks to be the same.
