It’s really a shame that it took this long for the Samsung Infuse 4G to get an update to Gingerbread. At this point, I’m not sure whether customers will feel relieved, or like they’re the brunt of a cruel joke. No one likes to get updated to a year old software version when a newer one is already out and this has been the thorn in Samsung’s side for quite some time. To make matters worse, AT&T is making users download the latest version of Samsung’s Kies Mini to sideload (which is ironic, since AT&T was once against side-loading) Android 2.3.6 onto their device rather than push the update out OTA. Well, at least Gingerbread is now available, and here’s what you’ll get with the update:

Starting April 5th, T-Mobile will begin capping the Domestic Roaming Data Allotment. Unlike their data throttling, once a user goes over their designated allotment,they will simply be cut off from data altogether, until they return to the T-Mobile network or connect via WiFi. While this change is unlikely to affect the majority of us (when’s the last time you used data while roaming?), T-Mobile will send out warnings via text message when your domestic roaming data allotment has reached both 80% and 100%.

One of my biggest complaints regarding data plans on Verizon (and most other carriers) has always been the fact that I need to purchase a separate data plan for each member of my family. I’m pretty confident it’s just part of the initial phase period where companies try to milk as much as possible from their customers before eventually releasing a sensible solution. Thankfully, Verizon has hinted in the past that it would be bringing shared family data plans, and according to employee training materials obtained by Engadget, that day may not be far off.

I have some amazing news for our friends over in the UK. T-Mobile UK has announced that they will be bringing the UK its first mobile phone plan to offer consumers the freedom to make unlimited calls, send unlimited texts, and use as much mobile internet as they want – with no fair use restrictions. This is a breakthrough plan for the UK and one I wish all carriers would adopt. The Full Monty plan will kick off tomorrow and will be available via T-Mobile stores, online, telesales and in-direct partners.

It looks like the US will soon have its hands on Samsung’s illustrious 5.3″ phonetablet. Samsung has announced that the Galaxy Note will hit AT&T February 19, with pre-orders starting February 5th. The Galaxy Note will run you $299 on contract and will be available in carbon blue and ceramic white.
