Android 4.0 has made its mark on yet another device, this one being the Sony Xperia Ion for AT&T. This Ice Cream Sandwich update is ready for download, only problem is, you’ll need to download it from Sony. We really hate when they don’t offer an OTA but I guess it’s better than not getting it at all.

Security expert Ravi Borgaonkar demoed a serious vulnerability in the way Samsung’s native browser and dialer app handle USSD codes and telephone links at the Ekoparty security conference. As shown by Ravi, malicious code could be used to trigger a factory reset without any forewarning or possible way of stopping it. Even more disturbing is the ability for such malicious code to perform a double whammy and also nuke the device’s SIM.

Think of the kids!

It appears kid-centric tablets have become the next victims of IP litigation thanks to a recent court filing by Fuhu Inc., creators of the 7-inch Nabi tablet. Fuhu has filed suit against Toys ‘R’ Us, claiming breach of contract, trade-secret misappropriation, trademark infringement, and more. This all seems to stem from a previous agreement between Toys ‘R’ Us and Fuhu in which Toys ‘R’ Us was given exclusive rights to sell Fuhu’s 7-inch kid-friendly Nabi tablet.

Motorola hasn’t exactly been on schedule with its updates and has missed target dates on numerous occasions. While this has been one area that the new Motorola (with Google at helm) has promised to improve, DROID Bionic users are once again getting the shaft as their chances of receiving Ice Cream Sandwich have been pushed back to Q4.

I have some good news for Galaxy S III owners. Samsung has started pushing out Jelly Bean ahead of schedule. The first batch of updates has already begun over in Poland and is expected to hit other markets soon. With Android 4.1, the Samsung Galaxy III will not only be up-to-date, but will enjoy all the killer benefits and features such as Google Now and Project Butter.
