Cyanogen begins testing OnePlus One’s Lollipop update ahead of release
Cyanogen Inc. has confirmed that its new CyanogenMod 12S update — based on Lollipop — for the OnePlus One has entered quality assurance testing ahead of its public release. Once the software is tested and certified by third-party partners, it will be making its way to handsets over-the-air.
Cyanogen confirmed it was working on a Lollipop update for the One last month, and it said at the time that it would be making its way to users in February.
The news was somewhat relieving to One owners, who were worried Cyanogen may no longer be working with OnePlus due to the recent issues in India. Cyanogen founder Steve Kondik did add, however, that he has “no idea what the future holds” beyond this release.
CyanogenMod users will know that the software is very close to pure Android, so with this update, you can expect to get a Material Design overhaul, significant improvements to performance and battery life, and features like Smart Lock and lock screen notifications.
As soon as Cyanogen begins pushing the release out to One handsets, we’ll update you.
