GamingCast

The $35 Google Chromecast has gradually gotten more and more useful since it first went on sale last July, and that’s not going to change anytime soon. Not only does it boast support from a whole host of video and audio streaming services, but thanks to an app called GamingCast, it can now be used to play games, too.

Google senior vice president Sundar Pichai has confirmed plans to bring Chromecast to “many more countries” over the coming weeks. The popular $35 dongle has officially been available only in the U.S. since it was launched last July, but Google has always said that the device would eventually be available internationally.

Koushik Dutta, one of the core members of the CyanogenMod team and developer of apps like ROM Manager and AllCast, is now working on bringing Android mirroring to Chromecast. In a video posted on Google Plus, he gives us a sneak peek into this upcoming feature by playing Flappy Birds on his Nexus 5, which was mirrored to his TV via Chromecast.

Google, today, finally opened up the Chromecast platform and released the final version of Google Cast SDK for developers, allowing them to take advantage of its $35 HDMI media streamer. Google had released Chromecast in September last year with a preview SDK and has, since then, taken its own sweet time in opening up the platform to developers.
