If you’ve been tapping that update button on your Galaxy S III or Galaxy S4 every day, eagerly anticipating the release of Google’s latest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release, then it’s time to give yourself a rest for a few weeks. Samsung confirmed at IFA this week that the update was indeed on its way — but it won’t be available until next month.

Now that Samsung has finally uncovered the Galaxy Note 3, you’re probably wondering when you’ll be able to pick one up in the United States. Well, the first official launch dates come from AT&T and T-Mobile, both of which will be offering the device next month. T-Mobile will also be selling the counterpart Galaxy Gear smartwatch.

At its Unpacked event this evening, Samsung officially unveiled its first Android-powered wearable piece of technology, the Galaxy Gear. The Gear will be available to purchase starting September 25 , but, unfortunately, at present is only compatible with Samsung’s new flagship tablet, the Galaxy Note III, which will also be available to purchase on the same date.

Samsung almost managed to keep the Galaxy Gear a secret, but just two days ahead of its official unveiling, pictures of a prototype have been leaked for the first time. This is the device that’s been given to developers a select Samsung partners, according to the sources that obtained the pictures — but is this the design you can expect the Galaxy Gear to ship with?

Gear Manager, a new Samsung app that will allow you to manage your Galaxy Gear smartwatch from your Android-powered smartphone, has appeared in a pair of leaked screenshots ahead of of the Galaxy Gear’s grand unveiling on Wednesday.

The app suggests Gear will connect to your smartphone via NFC and Bluetooth, and that it will have its own apps and a “find my watch” feature.
