Samsung has confirmed that it’s aware of the unwelcome ‘bug’, which jumped on board the latest Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3, that prevents owners from using third-party S-View covers on their smartphones. According to the South Korean company, the source of the software compatibility issue has now been identified, and a software update incorporating a patch for the error will start rolling out shortly.

Samsung is currently rolling out the much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to all International models of its flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 3, located in India, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and South Korea. This rather hefty upgrade carries build number KOT49H and is a fairly major bump up from Android 4.3, it brings a mass of new functionality, together with the usual multitude of bug fixes, stability improvements and speed optimizations.

Samsung still hasn’t officially announced the Galaxy Note 3 Neo yet, but one Belgian retailer is already making preparations to take pre-orders. An employee has revealed the handset’s price tag and provided its official press images, but the handset’s specifications could not be confirmed.

Today, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy Note 3 ‘Olympic Games Edition’. The Note 3 is the ‘official handset’ of the Winter Olympics Games, scheduled to take place in Sochi, Russia between 6 and 23 February, 2014, and as you’d expect the South Korean company will be providing all athletes with a complimentary handset.

When Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy Note 3 in IFA last year, rumors were floating around that the company was planning to restrict the functionality of third-party accessories with the device. The company, however, did not take any such ‘Apple’ like decision of blocking third party accessories with its devices until now.

With the recently released KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 though, Samsung has restricted third party accessories from working properly on the device.
