Rumors surrounding a newer, faster Galaxy Note 4 were true, it seems, after Samsung today announced an even better version of its flagship phablet less than four months after the original made its debut. The newer model has a faster 64-bit processor and snappier data speeds thanks to LTE-Advanced connectivity, but you shouldn’t feel too disappointed if you’ve already adopted its predecessor.

Samsung may have failed to deliver its Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy S5 before Christmas for the vast majority of users, but millions across Europe will see it before the New Year. The update is currently rolling out over-the-air in Spain following its initial debut in Poland earlier this month, while other European countries can expect to see it soon.

After upgrading its flagship Galaxy S5 to Lollipop, Samsung is hard at work on bringing Google’s latest software update to the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy Note Edge. Android 5.0.1 builds for both devices have already leaked out into the wild, suggesting a public rollout could be right around the corner.

Samsung’s Gear VR virtual reality headset is here, but if you want one, you’ll need a Galaxy Note 4 and $199 to spare. The device is available to order now direct from Samsung’s online store and from AT&T in the U.S., and it comes with a 16GB microSD card loaded with 360-degree movies and games. You’ll have to pay extra if you want Gear VR earphones or a gamepad, though.

WatchON, one of the more useful services that comes baked into Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface for Android, is being wiped out in all but two markets, the South Korean company has confirmed today. Users will be able to keep content they’ve purchased through WatchON, while the Galaxy Note 4’s new Smart Remote app is expected to replace its IR remote functionality on other Galaxy smartphones.
