KitKat 10

AT&T customers with a Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note 3 can now get their hands on leaked Android 4.4 KitKat updates, thanks to a member of the XDA Developers forum. Both are pre-release builds that may contain a few bugs, but if you can’t wait for AT&T to roll out the official versions, then they’re ready to download now.

SamsungGalaxyS411

Samsung unveiled its former flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4, back in March, 2013, and a month after its announcement the handset was available in the U.K. from several retailers for £599.99. However, if you haven’t had the opportunity or the wherewithal to pick one up before now, it may be of interest to you to know that the popular online retailer, Isme, is currently offering the device with a £60 discount.

Nexus-5-large

Google is preparing to drop its Nexus devices in favor of Google Play Edition smartphones and tablets in 2015, according to Russian tipster Eldar Murtazin. It’s thought third-party manufacturers don’t like competing with Nexus price tags, which could also be hurting sales of Google’s Motorola handsets.

Customs officials in Stuttgart, Germany, have seized and destroyed 250 counterfeit Galaxy S4 handsets that were set to go on sale in Europe. The devices were picked up at the airport as they entered the country, then demolished one-by-one with a hammer.

WaterField-wallet

When you buy a smartphone wallet case, the chances are you’re going to have to make some cutbacks — because the vast majority of them only carry a small number of cards. But that’s not the case with the Finn wallet from WaterField Designs, which has plenty of space for your phone and all the cards and cash you can carry.

Category: Wallet Cases
Works With: Everything
Price: $39+

Finn’s available in four different sizes: the size 25 model is designed to be a wallet only, but the other three — size 27, size 42, and size 69 — are designed to carry your smartphone as well. Of course, the larger the Finn, the bigger the smartphone you can stash into it (and the more it’ll cost you).

I’ve been reviewing the size 25 and the size 69, which measures 5.5 inches by 3.3 inches, and is designed to carry an HTC One or a Galaxy S4, according to WaterField’s website — but it’s compatible with a whole bunch of other smartphones, too. I’ve mostly been using mine with a Nexus 5, but I’ve used HTC, Samsung, and BlackBerry handsets with it, too.

WaterField calls Finn “the best wallet ever,” so let’s see if it lives up to those claims.
