Galaxy-S4-KitKat

AT&T posted the update documents for a rather pleasing upcoming upgrade for Samsung’s former flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4, on its official website last night. The paperwork reveals that the update, build number KOTH49H, will start rolling out later today and is scheduled to bring the latest build of KitKat, in addition to compatibility for the Galaxy Gear 1 and 2.

Following KitKat’s rollout to the Exynos variant of the Galaxy S4, Samsung has today started pushing out the much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 over-the-air update to all of its Snapdragon-equipped S4 LTE handsets located in Germany. In addition to the chunky bump up from Jelly Bean to KitKat, this particular upgrade transports several tweaks for the lock screen, including a refreshed camera shortcut and full-screen album artwork during audio playback.

Sprint today rolled out its new Wi-Fi calling feature to subscribers nationwide, allowing them to send texts and make calls over a Wi-Fi network. But before you get too excited, know that it’s initially only available on Samsung’s Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Mega handsets.

Wondering whether your Galaxy device is in line for a KitKat update? Well, wonder no more. Samsung has today published a list of smartphones and tablets that are “currently scheduled” to receive an Android 4.4 upgrade, and the South Korean company says that rollout begins today.

A sample image taken with Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S5 all but confirms that the new handset will feature a 16-megapixel real-facing camera. The otherwise boring photograph was taken with a “Samsung-SM-G900A,” according to its accompanying EXIF data, and it boasts a 5312×2988 resolution.
