Verizon has finally begun accepting pre-orders for the LG G3, more than a month after the device got its official unveiling. Customers will pay a $99.99 upfront fee when they take out a new two-year contract, and orders will begin shipping by Thursday, July 17.

Google has removed almost all of last year’s Google Play Edition devices from Google Play, including the Xperia Z Ultra, the HTC One M7, and the LG G Pad 8.3. The only 2013 devices that remain are the Moto G and the Samsung Galaxy S4, but the latter is currently out of stock and has been for some time.

After being killed by Google and nearly disappearing from all the popular Android devices released last year, microSD card slots have made a comeback in all the major devices unveiled this year. Sprint today announced yet another new Galaxy S5 variant called the Galaxy S5 Sport. The device is identical to its siblings on the inside — with the same Snapdragon 801 processor and 1080p Super AMOLED display — but it sports a textured form factor for increased grip and physical buttons for easier navigation.
