Galaxy-Note-3-KitKat

Samsung will unveil its next-generation Galaxy Note on September 3, just days before IFA 2014 kicks off in Berlin, according to sources familiar with the South Korean company’s plans. Invitations are expected to go out in late August, and it’s an event phablet fans will want to keep a close eye on.

Samsung’s like the spoiled brat you went to school with: they have almost everything, but if another kid comes in with a toy that’s not part of their collection, mummy and daddy will make sure they get it.

Rumor has it the South Korean company is now developing its own virtual reality headset that will work alongside Galaxy devices — and it is desperate to get the product to market before Facebook and Sony launch theirs.

Galaxy-S5-Active-Key

Last year’s Galaxy S4 Active was marketed by Samsung as a waterproof version of the original Galaxy S4 — but there were a number of subtle differences between the two internally. Buying the Active meant you had to settle for a lesser camera — 8-megapixels versus 13-megapixels — and a TFT display over a Super AMOLED one.

There are going to be some hardware differences between these variants this time around as well, it seems — but for 2014, the Galaxy S5 Active has the advantage over the original Galaxy S5. In addition to a barometer, the device has a customizable “Active Key” and what appears to be optical image stabilization.

Product leaks don’t get much better than this, folks.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S5 Active, a super strong version of the flagship Galaxy S5, has made its way out into the wild ahead of its official unveiling. No, we don’t have blurry photos or questionable press renders — but we do have a couple of clear, high-quality videos of the handset being used.

Galaxy-S5-TouchWiz

If you had to guess what would win a simple smartphone speed test between the Galaxy S5 and the new Motorola Moto E, you’d choose the Galaxy S5 every time. I know I would. But quite incredibly, we’d both be wrong.

The Galaxy S5’s bloated TouchWiz interface means that simple actions take much longer than they should. Opening apps, scrolling long lists, and navigating menus is actually smoother and snappier on the $129 Moto E. Don’t believe me? Check out the speed test video below.
