Android-5-Lollipop

Google will preview its next Android update at the Google I/O conference in San Francisco this morning, and according to sources familiar with its plans, it’ll be called Android 5.0 “Lollipop.”

Google will several big announcements during its Google I/O keynote today — and one of them will almost certainly be about Android TV.

Sources familiar with the plans claim we’ll see “at least one” set-top box powered by the search giant’s latest entertainment platform during the event. In addition to playing movies and music, they’ll also allow users to play Android games through their TVs.

Just a few hours before Google I/O is scheduled to start, Google has gone ahead and announced a major software and hardware update for the Google Glass. On the hardware side, the company has bumped the RAM to 2GB to help alleviate all the performance issues Glass users frequently complained about.

Google has today opened up its Glass Explorer Program to those in the United Kingdom. The device is available in five colors with free frames or shades, and it ships in 1-2 business days… if you can afford its hefty price tag.

Google is in the process of developing and testing a new feature for Glass, the world’s most advanced piece of wearable technology. The recently developed experimental functionality is currently being rolled out to all Explorers via an OTA software update, once installed users will be able to view incoming notifications by simply glancing at the screen, instead of having to nod their head or tap  the touchpad whenever the traditional notification chime is heard.
