We’ve been pondering Android L’s real name for as long as I can remember. Google decided it didn’t want to put us out of our misery when it announced the update at Google I/O back in June, so we’re still guessing. Some reports have suggested it could be called Lollipop, while others say it will be named Lion after another chocolate bar made by Nestle.

Now a Google+ post from a sculptor you’ve probably never heard of suggests Android L will be named Licorice instead.

We’ve been hearing for some time that Google will show of its new Nexus 9 tablet this month, but a launch date for its next-generation Nexus smartphone has remained a mystery. Now a number of sources familiar with the search giant’s plans say you’ll be able to buy a Nexus 6 before the end of October.

Google has begun issuing invitations for a September 15 event in India where it is expected to announced the first crop of Android One devices built specifically for emerging markets. The handsets are expected to go on sale next month, with prices starting at just $100.

Asus will unveil its first Android Wear smartwatch at IFA 2014 in Berlin next month. Asus CEO Jerry Shen revealed the news to investors at a conference in Taiwan, reports claim, and he promised the device will look better than competing wearables from rival companies.

Nexus-7-out-of-stock

The Google Play store has all but run out of Nexus 7 tablets, rekindling rumors that a brand new successor made by HTC could be right around the corner. “We are out of inventory,” a notice reads, without giving customers any indication when new stock might be available to order.
