For those of you who pre-ordered VIZIO’s $99 Google TV set-top box, today’s the original estimated shipping day. I have the feeling we’re not going to see any units actually ship out today, so we’re recommending you use this time to learn all about your new device before it ever hits your doorstep.

VIZIO’s crack at a Google TV set top box has gone up for pre-order. The $99 Co-Star looks to be hit with its compact design, easy set up and list of features, including:

  • WiFi: Yes, 802.11n/g/b

  • Resolution Supported: 720p, 1080i, 1080p
  • 3D Support: Yes

  • Audio Features: Up to 5.1 channels of surround sound pass-through

Google had some great announcements for the future of Google TV. Not only have they partnered with four of the top TV manufacturers to bring a new generation of Google TVs, but they also announced how more content will be making its way to your Google TV later this summer.

Alas, a Google TV update. While it’s pretty minor, it adds a couple video services, that frankly, should have already been added. The update has begun rolling out to Sony Google TV devices — with Logitech Revue devices next on the list. If you own either of these, it’s time to dust them off and keep an eye out for the update, which will bump you up to version 2.1.1 and give you the ability to watch:

Customers in the U.S. have been able to purchase various versions of the Google TV for about a year now from various OEMs, but according to a new report, the Google TV is launching in Europe this September. The first devices across the pond will be from Sony and will include a €200 ($266) set-top box and a €300 ($399) set-top box featuring a Blu-Ray player.
