Still can’t decide what to ask Santa for this Christmas? How about a gold HTC One? The new handset has today gone on sale in the U.K. through retailers Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U, and it’s available for free on two-year contracts from £29 per month — with next-day delivery.

HTC announced its flagship smartphone of 2013, the HTC One, back in February, and a month later the handset was available to purchase in the U.K. from several independent retailers with a fairly hefty price tag of £599. However, if you didn’t pick one up at the time, it may be of interest for you to know that the online retailer Isme is currently selling the device for £549 — that’s £50 off the usual retail price.

Yesterday, I wrote that Verizon had finally posted the official update documents for the upcoming build 2.10.605.1. Android 4.3 update for the HTC One on its website, and today tons of reports have been flying in confirming that Big Red branded handsets have already started to receive the much-anticipated upgrade. In addition to the latest build of 4.3 Jelly Bean, the update also brings a truckload of bug fixes, stability improvements and speed optimizations for the handset, as well as the implementation of a couple of new features.

Today, just three days after Google started rolling out the latest build of Android 4.4.2 Jelly Bean to the HTC One GPE, the team at Mountain View have begun pushing out the exact same upgrade for the LG G Pad 8.3 Google Play Edition, which launched in the United States last week. This rollout doesn’t come as much of a surprise, seeing as this slate ships running Android 4.4, so it was only a matter of time before the relatively small bump up to 4.4.2 came.

Fashionably late as usual, Verizon has at last posted the official update documents for a much-anticipated upcoming upgrade for HTC’s flagship smartphone of 2013, the One. This announcement comes two months after all the other major carriers in the United States started rolling out Android 4.3 for the handset and reveals that Big Red is now preparing to do the same.
