LG has issued invites that ask us to “save the date” for an October 1 press event in New York City, where the company could announce a brand new smartphone. The event takes place just two days after Google is expected to announce its new Nexus devices.

Google is expected to announced its new Nexus devices on September 29, and according to a source familiar with its plans, both the LG-made “Nexus 5X” and a second handset from Huawei will go on sale the same day, with prices starting at $399.

Modern mobile phones need a lot of power; chances are we’ve all got an external battery pack (or at least a second cable and wall plug) tucked away in a bag somewhere that will charge up our Android and iOS mobile phones while we’re on the run.
