LG-G2

Sprint is currently in the process of pushing out the much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat over-the-air update to all its carrier-branded LG G2 flagship smartphones located in the United States. In addition to the latest build of the open-source operating system, this upgrade also improves battery efficiency, enhances the Knock On feature and, finally, increases the processing speed by a whopping 17%.

According to a new report from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the Android platform gained a marketshare of 3.9% in the U.S. according to recent statistics. And among the Android manufacturers, it is LG which has accounted for a majority of the sales in the region.

HTC-One-powered-by-Android

If you’ve watched any of those Galaxy S5 or HTC One M8 unboxing videos that are now taking over YouTube, then you’ve probably seen their new startup screens that proudly display a “powered by Android” logo.

Google is now forcing handset makers to display this logo in a supposed effort to raise awareness of the Android brand, with many third-party interfaces making the platform unrecognizable.

LG, slightly earlier than anticipated, is currently in the midst of rolling out the eagerly-awaited Android 4.4.2 KitKat over-the-air (OTA) update to all models of its flagship smartphone, the G Flex, currently located in the United States. In terms of added functionality, the upgrade brings KitKat and Knock Code to the handset, complete with the usual bug fixes, speed optimizations and stability improvements that we’ve grown to expect from any major software update.

Jolla Sailfish

The Jolla Sailfish OS from the makers of MeeGo has long been expected to make its way to users of the LG Nexus 4. The company has now rolled out an early adopter version of this OS meant for users of the 2012 Nexus smartphone. This will basically give users a very early preview of the new OS and will help better understand its functioning.
