Following rumors claiming that Verizon would soon be offering Motorola’s scaled-down variant to its flagship smartphone, the Moto G, for just $99.99 on a prepaid card tariff, Best Buy has issued a statement confirming that it will now be selling the Big Red branded handset in all of its nationwide retail stores.
Motorola is in the midst of pushing out the recently-announced Android 4.4.2 KitKat update to all of its U.S. and global Moto G variants. As well as the bump up to 4.4.2, this particular upgrade also brings supports for Square credit card reader and Wi-Fi printing, in addition to a multitude of bug fixes and stability improvements.
The $179 Moto G was scheduled to make its debut in the United States this month, but many of its early adopters are still waiting for their handset to arrive. Motorola has blamed the delivery delays on storm Dion, which is currently sweeping the nation, but the company is hoping to have handsets delivered by Christmas.

Starting today, the official Android 4.3 kernel files for the Moto G can be downloaded directly from Motorola’s official SourceForge homepage.
