A leaked press render for the upcoming red variant of Google’s flagship smartphone, the Nexus 5, has now been posted on Twitter just a couple of days after the image of an internal Sprint document appeared online revealing that the company was preparing to launch the red colored handset on February 4.

Earlier today, a leaked image appeared online revealing that Google is expecting to launch its flagship smartphone anodized in red on Tuesday, February 4. The handset will be available directly from the Play Store and is believed to be priced from $120 upfront on a two year contract, or $350 with no contract at all.

Packing for the supposed red Nexus 5 has shown up on Twitter, suggesting the handset’s official debut may be right around the corner. The shots above and below show the handsets in LG boxes ready to leave the company’s warehouse, and this particular batch appears to be headed to Great Britain.

Google is preparing to drop its Nexus devices in favor of Google Play Edition smartphones and tablets in 2015, according to Russian tipster Eldar Murtazin. It’s thought third-party manufacturers don’t like competing with Nexus price tags, which could also be hurting sales of Google’s Motorola handsets.
