Nexus-5-Android-4-4-1

Google rolled out Android 4.4.1 for the Nexus 5 and other Nexus-branded devices on Thursday evening. Its main changes include some much-needed camera fixes for the company’s latest smartphone, but the update brings other fixes and improvements that you may not have spotted yet.

So we’ve put them all together in a handy change log for you. Here’s everything you can expect from Android 4.4.1 on the Nexus 5.

As I’ve mentioned before, I have few complaints about the Nexus 5, but I have been hugely disappointed with its camera. It’s lacking features that are now commonplace on other flagship smartphones, and it’s so slow that unless your subject is completely still, it’s impossible to take a clear photo.

Fortunately, Google has acknowledged these issues and promised a fix, and it’s coming in the form of Android 4.4.1 which will roll out over the next few days.

CyanogenMod-10-2

The team behind CyanogenMod has announced that it is ready to begin work on new ROMs based on Android 4.4 KitKat after CyanogenMod 10.2 (based on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean) reached stable status this week. This means CM 10.2 is now officially ready for public use.

If you’ve been waiting for Google’s new Nexus 5 to hit Google Play, then today’s you’re lucky day… as long as you’re looking for a 32GB version in white. The device is now “in stock” and available to order, and it leaves Google’s warehouse in 1-2 business days.

KitKat 10

Google has successfully managed to roll out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for all the supported Nexus and Google Play edition devices within a couple of weeks of the OS being announced. Sadly, the current build of KitKat is not without its issues and contains a lot of bugs and issues, especially on the Nexus 5.

Google has already stated that it is working on an update that should fix most of the issues with KitKat. Turns out, the update might just be  around the corner and might land before Christmas arrives.
