Nexus-5-Nova-Launcher

The Nexus 5 really is a wonderful smartphone. I’ve had mine for just over a week, and I love it. But as you may already know from all the reviews, it’s not perfect. Its display is beautiful, its design is fantastic, and it’s super fast. But its camera needs some improvements, and its speaker is poor.

Thankfully, the latter can be improved thanks to a nifty new tweak that boosts speaker and headphone volumes.

Google may not have started rolling out its new Android 4.4 KitKat update to the Nexus 4 yet, but it has already released the factory image, allowing those who don’t mind flashing ROMs themselves to perform the update manually.

Last week, T-Mobile U.S. started accepting pre-orders for Google’s latest flagship smartphone, the Nexus 5, on its official website. And now, as expected, the handset is shipping and is available to purchase from any of the carriers nationwide bricks-and-mortar stores.

If you recently picked up a new Nexus 5, and you live outside of the United States, you may have noticed that saying “Ok Google” to activate its voice-controlled assistant doesn’t work — no matter how loud you shout it. That’s because it isn’t designed to work internationally yet, but there is a really simple way to enable it.

Google started rolling out Android 4.4 KitKat to the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 today, and it quickly became apparent that the rumors claiming the “Google Experience Launcher” would be exclusive to the Nexus 5 were true.

Although older Nexus devices have received some user interface improvements, the big changes — transparent status and navigation bars, larger app icons, Google Now on the home screen — are only available on the Nexus 5 for the time being. At least officially.

But there is a way to install it unofficially.
