The last person you’d expect to get a full rundown on an unreleased product from is someone on the end of a technical support line, but it appears Asus may have been briefing its support staff on the second-generation Nexus 7 ahead of its release.

A Redditor has posted a screenshot of a live web chat he has with an Asus employee, who spilled pretty much everything there is to know about the new Nexus 7 — apart from its price and release date.

On Friday, June 14, an FCC filing for the new Nexus 7 began circulating online, suggesting the tablet’s launch date was getting pretty close. After some extra digging, new information is emerging about the device, including its support for LTE on almost all of the major carriers in the U.S.

Reports that a new Nexus 7 is set to arrive next month look even likelier today after a new Nexus-branded tablet from Asus passed through the FCC. The device, which has the “K009” model number, boasts new internals, including a Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, front- and rear-facing cameras, and LTE radios.

Google is gearing up to launch a second-generation Nexus 7 this July, which will cost slightly more than its predecessor at $229, according to supply chain sources in Taiwan. The search giant has supposedly upped its price tag slightly in an effort to avoid competing directly against entry-level Android tablet from other manufacturers.

Google has recently entered its Nexus 7 device into the Bluetooth SIG test… again. This is really strange as the Nexus 7 has been out for just less than a year now, so why would it need to be put through its paces again, in terms of Bluetooth? Could this be the first sign of Android 4.3 coming to the Nexus 7?
