Google is expected to start shipping the second iteration of its Nexus 7 tablet this fall, according to DigiTimes. Supply chain sources have indicated that the device will feature a 7-inch display and start going into production this summer. Factories overseas are expected to make about 8 million of the next-gen tablets for 2013.

The future of the Nexus 7 wasn’t addressed by Google at its I/O conference earlier this month, but the company is rumored to announce a white Nexus 4 phone and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean at a June 10th event. That would make for a good time to unveil a new Nexus tablet as well.

The 32GB Nexus 7 is also available for £145 (approx. $227).

We were surprised to see no new Nexus hardware at Google I/O on Wednesday. We were expecting at least a new Nexus 7, and possible a white Nexus 4 with 32GB of storage. The closest we got was a Samsung Galaxy S4 “Nexus edition” with stock Android.

But we may not have to wait too long before Google updates its 7-inch slate. In fact, it looks like the company has already begun teasing the device in its new promotional video for Google Hangouts.

If you’re hoping to see Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie at Google I/O later today, then you’re probably going to be very disappointed.

Rumor has it that Google will instead unveil another update to Android 4 Jelly Bean in an effort to give device manufacturers a chance to catch up with their updates — and this has now been confirmed by Google’s developer website.
