HTC today posted its second loss in three quarters in another dismal earnings report, but things are beginning to look up for the Taiwanese company. Its new One M8 smartphone helped increase sales in March, and HTC has projected a profit for next quarter.

With the release of the HTC One (M7) and other One branded handsets, HTC focused on quickly getting out software updates to them. The company was among the first in the United States to update their flagship handset to KitKat on all the major carriers.

Continuing that trend, HTC’s executive director of product management today announced that the Android 4.4.2 update for the One Max on Verizon has received technical approval and will start rolling out from Monday.

HTC One max owners on Sprint will wake up to an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update today. It weighs in at 344MB, and it brings everything you’d expect from a KitKat upgrade — including Google Cloud Print and security enhancements.

HTC is currently rolling out the much-anticipated Android 4.4.2 KitKat over-the-air (OTA) update to all unlocked models of its flagship phablet, the One Max, in Europe. In terms of functionality, the upgrade brings Android 4.4.2 KitKat and Sense 5.5 to the device, complete with the usual plethora of bug fixes, speed optimizations and stability improvements that we’ve grown to expect from any major software update.

A leaked HTC software updates plan has revealed that the original One and One max will receive Sense 6 upgrades later this year. It also reveals that the handsets next in line for an Android 4.4.2 KitKat update are the Butterfly S, the original Butterfly, the Desire 601, and the Desire 700.
