Minus the hype and availability issue, the OnePlus One is an excellent phone that offers a stellar value for money. The device has been clearly marketed towards enthusiasts, especially with the international version running CyanogenMod right out of the box. This also makes gaining root access on the One an extremely easy process.

OnePlus is finally rolling out its Android 4.4.4 KitKat upgrade for the One. Originally expected in July, the new firmware delivers updated apps, a whole host of welcome bug fixes, and a number of new features — including a Clear Image camera mode that provides super high-resolution photos.

Unlike Nvidia’s Tegra chips, Qualcomm has always managed to provide an optimum balance between performance and battery life with its Snapdragon chips.

In its latest advertisement, the company is showing off the low-power capabilities of its chips by playing back music for more than 60 hours on the OnePlus One. 

 

OnePlus-One-sideOnePlus is dropping ColorOS and bringing its own software to One devices in China next year. The company has already shifted its development team to Taiwan, where it plans to use the many talented Android developers and designers who are based locally to its advantage.

Following the incredible success of its first smartphone, which is still difficult to buy due to overwhelming demand, OnePlus will undoubtedly be adding new devices to its lineup in the future. According to a new report, one of them will be a smartwatch called the “OneWatch” — and its launch is right around the corner.

Don’t get too excited just yet, though. While it’s certainly a nice idea, it’s highly unlikely for the foreseeable future.
