T-Mobile USA has today made the Sony Xperia Z available to pre-order ahead of its exclusive launch tomorrow, July 17. The waterproof flagship can be purchased for just $99 down on T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plan — or $579 if you’d like to buy the device outright — and it comes with a free wireless speaker while stocks last.

Bell, together with Sony, has officially announced that the flagship Xperia Z will be hitting Canada as a Bell exclusive later this month. We are unaware of the specific release date at present, but an official launch date should be announced pretty soon.

We know HTC is currently developing an HTC One Mini that will compete with the latest midrange devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. But new reports claim that the Taiwanese company is also working on a 6-inch HTC One Max phablet, which could take on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note III later this year.

One of the first announcements that T-Mobile made at its New York press event yesterday was the availability of the Sony Xperia Z . The device will be on sale starting July 17, and is the exact same waterproof Xperia that launched in Europe and Japan earlier this year.

With Samsung and HTC launching “Google Edition” variants of their latest flagships, many expected Sony to do the same. But the Japanese company is keeping very quiet about any such plans. Thankfully, Xperia Z owners can now take matters into their own hands, thanks to an unofficial Android 4.3 Google Edition ROM.
