Sony unveiled the Xperia Z1 Compact, which is a scaled-down variant of its current flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z1, at the Consumer Electronics Show two weeks ago in Las Vegas, and although we can’t actually get our hands on the device just yet here in the United Kingdom, the U.K.-based online retailer, Clove Technology, slashed £30 off the Z1 Compact’s original pre-order price today — meaning you’ll be able to grab Sony’s latest Android smartphone for £399.

A mysterious new Sony smartphone that’s believed to be a successor to the flagship Xperia Z1 has been pictured in the wild ahead of its official unveiling. The device looks a lot like the Xperia Z1 and it carries the “D6503” model number, and it’s thought that Sony will announce the device at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of February.

The Sony Xperia Z1S, which was announced just last week at CES in Las Vegas, is now available on T-Mobile in the United States. Customers will pay either $528 for the device up-front, or 24 monthly payments of $22.

Customers picking up the new Sony Xperia Z1 Compact in the United Kingdom can get their hands on a free SmartWatch 2 if they pre-order the device directly from Sony’s online store.

Announced at CES last week, the new smartphone packs all of the original Xperia Z1’s high-end specifications into a smaller smartphone for those who prefer something a little more pocketable.

Sony unveiled its flagship smartphone of 2013 back in September, and a month later the device was available to purchase in the United Kingdom from several independent retailers for the fairly hefty price of £479.95. However, if you haven’t had the opportunity or the wherewithal to pick one up before now, it might be of interest for you to know that Simply Electronics is currently offering the slate with a £120 discount.
